This painting was a part of my work with dreams, the subconscious and memory. It was based on a reoccurring childhood dream from my mother. In multiple iterations of the dream, she was running away from giant pigs. It was the first time I attempted using a diorama as a tool to "sketch" out the scene I wanted to draw. Initially used as an aid to draw something more believable, the diorama ended up becoming a stage which lent itself very nicely to the theatrical nature of dreams.
