This painting was a part of my residency in Navasota, TX. When I first began the residency, I was exploring dreams and the subconscious. "Through the Woods" and the rest of the work reads as a theater production, dramatically reenacting two dreams I had. Through setting up dioramas, lighting, distorting color, and symbolism, the painting lends itself to a landscape straight out of a dream. Much like a dream, the painting rides a fine line between utter chaos and small moments of sense.
